What is a business mobile app? If you said it is a software application designed to run on devices such as smartphones and tablets, you’re on the right path.
Mobile Apps Are Everywhere.
Apps are everywhere! People download them to
- Play games
- Watch movies
- Get coupons
- Read books etc…
Companies pay good money to have them created and developers put in time and effort to build and upload them to the marketplace. Now you say it’s our time to join the world of the application trend, but is it?
We’re not discussing types of applications – Native, Hybrid, or Web, although before I would create one I would research the pros and cons of each.
This article is written to make you think about why you should, or should not build. Ask yourself what is the app’s purpose and what should it accomplish to meet our business needs? When asking yourself these questions keep in mind just because an app works for one company does not mean it will work for yours.
Building a Mobile App.
For an app to be successful, it must provide significant value to your users and add value to your company. If not, you may spend time and money creating something that will never succeed in the marketplace or meet your business purpose.
According to Gartner, less than 0.01 percent of all consumer mobile apps will become financially successful throughout 2018. Another says 9999 in 10000 mobile apps will fail. These facts were from 2018 however I’m sure they are much on point today.
Advantages of Mobile Applications Are:
With anything there are advantages and disadvantages with a mobile app some advantages are:
- They help in building brand recognition
- Apps give a business additional exposure in the market
- Because they live on the user device the user is reminded to interact with your brand more
Even with advantages, is it right for your business? Apps require much planning, start small, and add new features as you grow, keep in mind how a person uses a mobile device. Remember your app will need to stay up to date, free of bugs, and keep a good rating in the marketplace. Also If you’re thinking about adding your app to multiple platforms such as Android and iPhone it can become costly.
